The Vegabonds formed in Auburn, AL during February of 2009, a combination of two bands and two new comers, and haven’t stopped playing since.  They wasted no time, and immediately started working on their first full album.  A mix of different musical interests laid the groundwork for the debut album entitled, “Dear Revolution,” which was recorded at Southstreet Studios in Nashville, TN.  The album was released in the summer of 2010, with rave reviews stemming from local writers, all the way up to regional and national recognition, with reviews in magazines like Alabama Arts and the New York based, Relix Magazine.  The Vegabonds toured non-stop in 2010 playing well over 125 shows, and will surpass that amount in 2011.

The Vegabonds have shared the stage with acts such as:

-Gregg Allman and Friends-Blues Traveler-Tea Leaf Green-Cherry Poppin’ Daddies
-Heavy Pets
-Hill Country Revue
-Honey Island Swamp Band
-Paul McDonald and The Grand Magnolias (on American Idol 2011)

The band is making a big wave in the music scene and has a strong resume for an independent artist.  The Vegabonds debut album “Dear Revolution” was featured in the November issue of Relix Magazine, including an album review, a spot in the “On the Rise” section, and the song Ballad of the Movers and Shakers was on the November ’10 sampler.  Also, the band won the Relix “Jam-Off” and were featured in the July/August 2011 issue.  The song Shaky Hands is on the compilation disc.  That makes two songs from the debut album featured in Relix.

Several of the albums songs have climbed to top spots on the Independent Charts.  IAIRA ranked Shaky Hands #1 and The Wanderer reached #88.  Indie-music.com ranked The Vegabonds ‘Top 25 Unsigned Bands of 2011,’ after the song Shaky Hands reached the top of Indie-music radio.  The Vegabonds were also selected as the feature band this year on the nationally syndicated Rick and Bubba radio show, where Zac Brown was featured two years prior.  In April ’11 The Vegabonds shared the SunFest stage with Gregg Allman and got rave reviews from the festival goers and promoters.  The SunFest tweet read: “The Vegabonds are redefining Southern Rock.”

In the Spring of 2011, The Vegabonds started recording their sophomore album entitled “Southern Sons” which is already catching a buzz around the musical community.  The new album is set to be released in January of 2012.  However, there will be singles released prior to the release of the full record.
